Great HallThe Great Hall of the Gewandhaus is regarded as one of the most attractive and acoustically outstanding concert halls in the world. Sir Yehudi Menuhin enthusiastically praised it as a "temple of music." Our sound engineers use the most advanced equipment to satisfy a wide range of requirements and present many different artists - from the Gewandhaus Orchestra and the world's leading symphony orchestras to piano recitals, jazz nights and current stars on the German music scene.
The Great Hall has amphitheatre-style seating and is well equipped to meet the high standards required for concerts and other events. The fully air-conditioned auditorium offers sound and lighting individually tailored to each event and provides:
* 1,900 seats (fixed seating)
* 182-square-metre stage with adjustable risers (maximum height: 1 m) and piano lift
* auxiliary and effect lighting
* custom-designed lighting and sound systems with point hoists and suspension points for rigging and microphones
* sound production studio and public address system
* separate studio space for mobile equipment
* numerous connections for outside broadcast units
* barrier-free access for guests with disabilities and wheelchair users, passenger lifts
* hearing aid induction loops
* permanent public address system

Mendelssohn Hall
Mendelssohn Hall, named after the renowned Gewandhaus Kapellmeister Felix Mendelssohn, is a multifunctional hall offering the following facilities for chamber music concerts, readings, congresses, presentations, banquets and events with simple scenic requirements:
* 500 seats (fully air-conditioned)
* 100-square-metre stage with 44 adjustable platforms (minimum height 25 cm, maximum 150 cm)
* projection screen concealed behind sliding panels (dimensions: 10.5 m x 6.5 m)
* flybar, point hoists and suspension points for microphones
* custom-designed lighting and sound systems
* sound production studio and public address system
* numerous connections for outside broadcast units
* interpreters' and speakers' booths
* variable seating
* barrier-free access for guests with disabilities and wheelchair users, hearing aid induction loops
