Music Education

Listening to and making music improves sensory, motoric and intellectual skills. Creative and independent music-making increases self-confidence and contributes to the development of expressiveness. Music experienced live inspires through emotional intensity which reaches the listener directly.
Soundcheck  (This section is available only in German) comprises all the music education activities and projects at the Gewandhaus with the Gewandhaus Orchestra.
Soundcheck programmes give young people,– regardless of age, background or education– a better understanding of the organism "orchestra," facilitate the initial contact with music or reinforce previous experiences, help to discover new facets, inform and inspire.
Soundcheck includes events for various target groups and consists of the following programmes:

Visits: rehearsal visits, school and kindergarten visits, organ presentations
Hörbar (listening bar): In Good Company, Hörsessions (listening sessions), Gewandhaus Charts and Soundchecker  (This section is available only in German).
Projects: Choir Project, Creative Music Project
Concerts: Discoverer Concerts ("Discoverer online" - in German), Leipzig School Concerts, Family Concerts
Other Performances: Youth Orchestra Series, Christmas Concert with the Gewandhaus Orchestra Brass Ensemble, "Music Festival for Everyone"
