Mendelssohn Festival

Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847) - Gewandhaus Kapellmeister, founder of the Leipzig Conservatory, but first and foremost the composer of immortal masterworks - was one of the most celebrated musical figures who lived and worked in Leipzig. Together with its partners, the Mendelssohn House , Schumann House , Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theatre , Bach Archive and Musical Instrument Museum , the Leipzig Gewandhaus has organised the Mendelssohn Festival every year since 1997 to pay tribute to Felix Mendelssohn and examine different aspects of his life and work.
